HAL HJT-36 Sitara is a beautiful aircraft

Modern India is full of ugly buildings and other eyesores. The few vehicles that have been designed in India are fugly (funny and ugly). The delta-winged Tejas aircraft is an exception. The HAL trainer aircraft Sitara (HJT-36) is not very well known but it also looks good. The Saras aircraft could also be made to look like the Gulfstream planes but it has not completely escaped being a victim of sarkari design.

The Modi government is content buying aircraft from abroad when these aircraft could be manufactured here in huge numbers and exported around the world. “Make In India” is a cover for big-ticket purchases from abroad. Just as “Swatch Bharath” was a charade to impose the “Swatch Bharath Cess.”
